Abstract

Table tennis, known as China’s national sport, is one that demands a high level of agility, reaction speed and tactical intelligence. Regarding youth sports development, the efficacy of training methods matters a lot, both for producing elites and for sustaining long-term engagement and physical literacy. This study examines various physical education teaching strategies being used and innovated upon within special table tennis training for young people. The traditional training model, which relies heavily on repetitive drills and command-based instruction, often fails to sustain young athletes’ psychological motivation. This often leads to stagnation and burnout among young athletes. So, this research delves into new ways of teaching, like incorporating gamified elements, implementing variable-rhythm multi-ball training, and utilizing video-based cognitive feedback. Through an extensive 16-week empirical study, this research will be conducted on a group of 60 special youth players, which is further divided into two group—an experimental group and a control group. We will measure the technical accuracy, tactical decision-making, and psychological engagement as a result of implementing these new methods. The results indicate that when modern pedagogical theories are combined with specialized technical instruction, it greatly improves the rate at which trainees gain skills and perform competitively. In addition, data shows that there is a positive correlation between variety of teaching strategies and athletes intrinsic motivation.
